looks as if you didn't get all the air out of the system the best way to do this is to have the car nose down and pour water into the coolant recovery (raise the rear of the car or find a drive way that has a slope) tank while having the 2 bleed screws open and water coming out of them. close the 2 bleed screws finger tight crank the car with the cap off the recovery tank and have water at the ready with the car still nose down as car gets hot open the 2 bleed screws and make sure only water is coming out. fans should come on around 190 as states close 2 screws your done if not check connection on left radiator thats where the temp sensor is. they could be corroded, clean and re install. if you pull the 2 connections off and touch them together the fans should come on with ignition on if they don't it possible your relays are bad (highly un likely) also check your fan relays up front you didn't say what year was your TR was let me know what happens I have a manual but there is nothing in there to help you with this the worst case is that you have a bad water pump seal and that requires engine removal lets hope its not that In victory you deserve Champagne In defeat you need it!
