Its the only spot of dry land in that region of the world with a 10,000+ foot runway where the Air Force's "big birds" can take-off from, anytime, day-or-night, without anyone noticing or civilians complaining about jet-noise. A friend used to service SR-71s there.

I can't remember which mapping service it was, but one of them had a satellite shot of a B2 out of the hangar down there...

Hi Gang,
I watch a lot of stuff on the military channel, etc., and I don't recall ever seeing any video of DG. Lots of text (as in Tom Clancy) but little real stuff.... They are very good at keeping security very tight.
Thanks for the info! (it'll be our little secret) ;-)

Michael,I'm working for a gov. contractor at DG that provides engineering/architecture/security services and more strictly for the navy/air force base there and the rest of the island. I'll be there to do fire protection engineering. It's a one year contract but can stay longer.Should be pretty exciting and I've heard people tended to like it more than other tropical locations.I take it you were there? It wouldn't surprise me if there was at least another lister or two that has been there. It is a restricted facility.....the only way in is through military carrier and you have to be cleared to go and have business there (or be military).FG

So FG, when you get back from Diego Garcia, I assume youâre buying an Alfa 4C, right?Knowing your predilection for unboosted steering, I canât see how you can pass this one upâOf course, it too is only available with a twin-clutch transmission, so you have to get over missing the 3rd pedalâ.From: Fellippe Galletta [mailto:fellippe.galletta [at] gmail.com]

After those runs concluded, the Factory stopped offering it as an available option altogether. I am not aware of ANY requests honored for a clutch-pedal manual for any 458, Cal Spyder, FF, or F-12. If such a machine existed, it would have been big-news.M JFrom: George <ygpz4re [at] hotmail.com>

I don't believe Ferrari offers any more *3 pedal* manuals, but all of their paddle shift cars are, in fact, manual transmissions.
FWIW.
