Carbs are for passion......weekend enthusiast cars only.
Nobody said anything about a 2015 Accord with Edelbrock carbs, haha
As far as obsolete technology, I've spent the last few years buying audio technology straight from WWII
Vacuum tube amps, and more vacuum tube amps
In the home and even in the car!
And of course vinyl LPs and reel to reel analog tape
Hell, I'm even getting into MONO a bit.
Don't worry, digital still holds relevance and is what I wind up listening to 80% of the time in the states.
But when it's time to get serious it usually is 2nd place
So not all outdated stuff is bad, sometimes it's better!

Now, carbs for the most part are relegated to just a glorious sound.
But if you wanted to own an enthusiast car built before 1990, chances are it's faster too.
At least stock.
And if we are going to talk about cars made in the '70s, we can't use the modern analogies
Otherwise we should open up the Nissan GTR list and call it a day.
You save up your pennies to finally buy a 512 Boxer or a Countach QV, and structure your entire life around it
And you go injected for reliability?
LOL.

I see it a lot and it needs to be called out!

Of course if you offer me an injected BB or CT for half or a third of the price, it's a different story.
But I doubt it's more than 10-15% less, so it's a no go.

308 gt/4 is not a perfect car but a rather niche vehicle even amongst so called hardcore Ferrari guys.
I haven't driven one but my gut tells me it will be cool.

I like this Clyde style formatting.

If you like carbs great
And I don't hate your car
The reason carbs went away is because of fires, emissions, and starting problems just to name a few
As for styling if you like it buy it
It wasn't a big hit so Ferrari dropped it
Most people want a car any car they put a key it in an go
If everyone liked carbs we would still be watching black and whit TV and flying airliners with round engines!
That's what Clyde says!

Nice description FG.  Well done.  I hope you sent cLYdE a personalized  and signed copy.  Ah ah ah

Only problem I find now with our 308 GTS which is in the restoration process are parts are Ferrari 288 GTO expensive and one would do better looking for replacement rubber parts in a convent in France than we can any place else.  Drat

I agree that the 308 GT/4 has gotten better with age and is a very cool car. While it is very, very similar to a 308 GTB, there are enough differences to make it special in its own way.

It's basically what a 308 would look like if Lamborghini created it....just look at the Urracco, and the taillights of the Jalpa.

A '73 series I, standard ("euro") spec would be my pick, modded with 16" QV wheels and modern rubber. I'd also prefer it if it had Dino badges as opposed to Ferrari. Don't believe you see too many of those around.

This car would be more interesting to me than just about all other 308s except the carbureted euro GTBs, and maybe even the GTS as well. GTBi/GTSi, and any 308 with US bumpers is too much for me to handle.

Some of the GT4s have the same problem of course.

Carburetors and cars old enough not to need catalytic converters.....life is good. :)

Since we're sharing opinions, I'll toss mine in: I think the 308GT4 is absolutely beautiful. Yes, Bertone's designs are more space-age angular than Pininfarina's curves, but no less visionary. What I can claim is that I feel no natural attraction to most Zigato designs, and some I find to be butt-ugly!

clYde finds anything with a carburetor to be a firey death trap. That may play a role in his dislike ofvthe GT4. He hates my 308GTB for that very reason. But there is nothing on Earth that sounds better than a bank of Webers.  And I have to admit that my all time favorite auto-music comes from the six dual choke Webers on a first generation Countach. My 308GTB comes in second. And I bet Rob's GT4 ties with it for that position.

You know what opinions are like, and mine is no different. Such is life.
