Well Clyde

I have seen documentary proof that a dealer has offered US$35K for the car 

I am looking at. There are two on offer from dealers at US$62K and another 

one which I know is a bit of a dog and which is on offer for US$40K  and 

for which I know the owner was given US$32K on a trade in for a 348.

Of course I take the offer prices with a pinch of salt but they are far 

removed from what you are suggesting.

Of course exchange rates, the relative lack of performance of US spec cars 

etc do make a difference so it's not comparing eggs with eggs. But 

still....

Anyway, I'm now 64 and if I don't do it now I never will. And with

interest rates as they are I might as well put some of my pension money 

into

something that I don't think is going to go down in value, and enjoy it a
bit more than having it sit in a bank account earning not very much.

I agree that the 308 GT/4 has gotten better with age and is a very 

cool

car. While it is very, very similar to a 308 GTB, there are enough
differences to make it special in its own way.

It's basically what a 308 would look like if Lamborghini created

it....just look at the Urracco, and the taillights of the Jalpa.

A '73 series I, standard ("euro") spec would be my pick, modded with

16" QV wheels and modern rubber. I'd also prefer it if it had Dino badges 

as

opposed to Ferrari. Don't believe you see too many of those around.

This car would be more interesting to me than just about all other 

308s

except the carbureted euro GTBs, and maybe even the GTS as well. 

GTBi/GTSi,

and any 308 with US bumpers is too much for me to handle.

Some of the GT4s have the same problem of course.

Carburetors and cars old enough not to need catalytic
converters.....life is good. :)

clYde finds anything with a carburetor to be a firey death trap. 

That

may play a role in his dislike ofvthe GT4. He hates my 308GTB for that 

very

reason. But there is nothing on Earth that sounds better than a bank of

Webers.  And I have to admit that my all time favorite auto-music comes 

from

the six dual choke Webers on a first generation Countach. My 308GTB 

comes in

second. And I bet Rob's GT4 ties with it for that position.

You know what opinions are like, and mine is no different. Such is

life.
