The F40 was a bomb with twin turbos
It had more service bulletins than the space shuttle and had horrible quality control issues of fit and finish
There was nothing appealing about that car what so ever
The twin turbos had the shelf life of an amoeba along with emission problems
If were dumb enough to buy one hopefully you bought 2 so you could have spare parts
Oh yea they would catch fire faster than a carbed 308 !
Someone needs to buy all of them and put them all at a military range and use them for targets!
Sometime Ferrari gets it wrong
That car proved it!

My dates are 1973-1986ish.  Parts for the F40 are starting to get rare as hen's teeth.

I like Leonardo Fioravanti's work best, and it was all in the pre-T-shirt/coffee cup era, too...

Your mileage may vary,

Ferrari is all about hype to the uninformed buyer
They know this and live off it like a leach lives off its host body
The Ferrari clubs help propagandize this image as well especially the left coast crowd !
They are the worst.
Just look at the pebble beach gig and Cavillino show
If idiots want to drop that kind of coin for shit box cars let them
It's just sad that they don't take up flying and self cleanse themselves
As for older cars I don't get it
It's like older WW 2 airplanes
They were death traps as well
But to each there own
86 to 04 were the years to own in my book
Easy to maintain lots of reasonable parts

You ever notice that these auction catalogs are written for people who may/probably know absolutely nothing about the car or the marque offered?  Each listing somes with a "wikipedia history lesson" that explains why you should buy THIS car at THIS price?  That should tell you all you need to know about guys who spend money on cars at auctions - some of these clowns would pay $180,000 for a 308 if you put a mountain of hype behind the car and got them to believe that a particular car was a "collectors item".....and I'm not talking about a SEFAC/Micholotto Rally racer, either.  I'm talking about the dog in our garage that needs new fuel lines and shock bushings.  What a business model they have going.

I can't believe 'educated' buyers dump money into the auction system unless they REALLY care more about getting the car than they do about what they're spending.

Clyde, your kind of price (as a seller/owner).  Unbelievable, even if it is in fact perfect and only has 13k miles.  Maybe I'll repaint mine black.  Larry
