A bunch of us were thinking about this very discussion last weekend at the Canadian GP. We were overlooking the calm rowing practice pool behind the F1 circuit on a small side road.
We had a friend running a 1980 312T5 in the Historic GP series. After three full hours of walking through the Historic GP paddock we all left wondering why modern F1 was
so....boring.
Just one lap of the Historic GP was more exciting than the last few seasons of current F1. There were multiple passes, unique sounds and all the cars sounded different.
We were screaming at the top of our lungs for your friend. Now that was fun.
I will say that the new turbo cars do sound better in person than on TV.

I agree on all points.
Watching Le Mans and feel that sports car racing is much more interesting these days. I hope that F1 can recover its mojo someday.

Sour grapes I say
Ferrari has hinted at this before
They will never leave F1
They are in fact defined by F1 itself and I could be talking out the side of my neck
But I believe the FIA would do everything in its power to prevent Ferrari from leaving F1
Ferrari is pretty much like the New York Yankees
It's the team that defines the World Series and everyone
loves to hate them
But when they are not doing well no one really pays much attention to baseball
This same logic or lack thereof can be applied to football with regards to the Dallas Cowboys of years past "Americas Team"
Off the soap box now
Happy Father's Day to all that apply

I've said it before... they keep doing the same thing expecting different results. How's Kimi working out?? :-)Hey, watching F1 is like watching sports car racing. Multiple classes all running separate races at the same time. Mercedes and Red Bull are P1. Ferrari, Williams, Force India, McLare are P2, and the rest are in the GT ranks.
I would LOVE to see Ferrari come back to prototype racing at LeMans. I can't wait for this weekend to see who will take LeMans.Bruce
