Robert,

I always love the pictures you post. This has me tempted to do the same to mine. My throttle cable has always been a bit sticky. But even worse right now is the clutch cable -- something I've cleaned up many times, removing and cleaning the pulleys, etc....

I recall when we first had got our ’78 308 GFS I tried double clutching going into our neighborhood off of the semi busy main street.  (heh heh)  Well - - - the throttle was sooo stiff I ended up really trouncing it - - - AND the brakes at the same time and locking up the light right front tire.  Here comes Mr. Cool in his hot $--t Ferrari, rev rev Schreeeeech – cloud of smoke from why worn out Michelin XWX’s – red faced, recover, creep home.

Found out what the throttle problem was – the grease in the monkey motion throttle was harder than a whore’s heart.  Sort of pinkish.  Impervious to brake cleaner.  Just the soap left.  Hmmm – soaked them in alcohol and WD40 to free up the throttle axel and lo and behold - - there are two needle bearing races in there so clogged they wouldn’t turn.  Repairs done and some bicycle cable lube down the throttle cable – now we’re cookin’ but I never tried the double clutch and braking at the same time – pedals just don’t fit my foot pattern scenario.  I need more practice.
