The 355 was a nightmare as well, a little better than the shit box 348 but not by much
Between valve guides and exhaust headers cracking along the mired check engine lights and seat rails for the girly 355 convertible it was a disaster 
But still people bough them like chips at a bar!
The 360 looks like ODD OGG half turtle and half frog!
But it too sold
They are roaches in a Puerto Rican kitchen in America! 
So what does that tell you?
The marketing arm of Ferrari doesn't need to speak to the designing gurus of Ferrari
Put a Prancing Horse on a PINTO and Americans will buy it 
Price it ridiculously and make sure it makes a lot of noise (Harley Davidson's)
It is what it is
When the old man was alive he sold the cars to those who deserved them
They were never meant for the masses
That time has been an gone 
If you hit the lottery Lash by a Quarter of a Billion dollar old one along with a CNC machine to maintain it
For me the cars are the modern 12 cylinder cars 
512/550/575/599 
Classic PINN designs with the performance and great creature comforts to go with it ( read a/c)
I flew the F4 phantom for over 3000 hrs 
Loved the plane but it couldn't turn well and was a bitch to maintain and it would kill you in a heart beat
Give me an F-15 any day !
My 512 is an F15
My old 308 was a phantom 




In victory you deserve Champagne

The 348 wasn't perfect but the 355 was worse from an engineering standpoint. The 360 was the first car that didn't look like a Ferrari and it just got watered down from there. The first time I heard of a former BMW M3 owner buying a 360, I knew it was over.

The 550 and 575 are...soft and boring. I've tried to like them for years but they are just not for me. And I'm not even young anymore.

On the other hand, I find the Pagani Zonda R, Koeniggsegggggggggg models, Carrera GT and Maserati MC12 sensational.

So, it's not that I like only the older cars.

I'd disagree...  When LdM took over, the current car in the pipeline was the 348... and no offense to their owners but they were pretty poor in both function and build quality.  I'd say the cars that came after LdM were a lot better with every iteration.   The 355, 360 lineage up to the 458 are pretty solid cars who only suffer from trying to be too advanced for their own good.  Same for the 550, 575 and up on that side.   Now if you stray away into those cars that were developed to satisfy the FaceBook generation (read FF), yeah there has been a slide.   I'd like to see Ferrari cut back on the product line diversity and make a few cars that are just dependable weapons!!

I purposely left out the Super/Hyper cars.  I believe they stand on their own merit.  I just think they need to fire the marketing folks who name them.  I mean, seriously.... if I owned a LaFerrari I'd cut the "La" off and patch the hole.  And while I'm spewing opinions, the last GTO didn't deserve the moniker either.   But what do I know... I just told everyone I have a brain injury!  <grin>

Ferrari can only get worse...it has been pretty bad since LdM took over.

Passion Marques are always best under their namesake or founder. The first buyout after usually leaves a generation of virtuous models due to leftover design and technology. They models after that leftover generation start the bad slide...

Subject: [Ferrari] Ferrari's future?

Who else wonders about what the future holds for Ferrari?  Not just because LdM has left, but also because of the Fiat/Chrysler merger.  Does anyone else think that F/C will destroy the Ferrari name/legacy?  Or does *everyone* else think that?

Jaguar also had a decade or two of floundering when its founder died in the 80's, but lately seems to be making a pretty strong comeback (if you haven't driven the new F-Type, you should - even if I could afford a new Ferrari, I might actually opt for the new F-Type R Coupe - it's a rocket ship!).

Thinking aloud here is all.....
