Ah yes, the Lashdeep effect. :-)
Hilarious...although I will admit to having for non-domestic vehicles right now!
I'm trying to convince Matt to come up to the Rockville Car Show Saturday for some free flowing fun.

Matt, you have a fine scuderia. A friend once told me that the second best thing is life is having owned one of every interesting car. He went on to say that the best thing in life is owning one of every interesting car AT THE SAME TIME. Of course, he was wrong. The best thing in life is my grandson!!! :-)
Comments now, embedded within Matt's prose...

Time? Yes. Retirement is pretty awesome. I'm working 12ish hours a week now, mentoring a young scientist in the dark arts of rock physics and signal theory.
Money? After 40+ years of full time work, and the frugal Scottish roots given to me by my parents, Nancy and I have saved enough to live out retirement in our ongoing frugal way. My 12 hour work week is paying the bills. Our collector cars were mostly bought as basket cases so they now are worth more than their meger investments.

Don't forget to save for the wedding. Yikes! :-o

And Matt, we have long agreed that the first step in Ferrari ownership - and really, everything else in life - is having the imagination to know that you can and will do it! I didn't realize this simple fact until visiting the Imaginarium at Disneyworld a few decades ago. Credit where due.

Excellent. And you are a DIY guy too so many of the really costly project impacts are mitigated by your skill set.

My tastes have evolved over the decades but my love of British cars has never faded. Perhaps that is because of a TR6 I owned in my early 20s. It was just a wonderful car. FWIW, my first three cars, all owned between ages 16 and 18, were a Model A Ford, a '63 Chevy Impala convertible, and a '68 Camaro. Traded the Camaro for a Fiat 850 Spyder - and thusly, my down hill slide into sports cars began.

BTW, Ed Helsing absolutely LOVES that car! Money is not a major worry with Ed nor is the resale value of the car. What matters to Ed (and Judi) is enjoying the car. And to do that, they are completely restoring the interior. Upside down in the car? Certainly, but they don't care. Gotta love that!

I am SO jealous of that car. Trade you my '69 Silver Shadow for it. :-o

Tried to trade my Shadow for a Turbo R earlier this year, but the owner was liquidating his rolling stock, not just seeking change.
> still have my 57 Chevy I bought 28 years ago when I was 16,
I still pine for that Fiat 850 Spyder I owned as a teenager. It was a totally clapped out piece of $#!T - but I LOVED it. Funny how easily one forgets the overheating, trashed brake disks, broken throttle cable, and buggered electrics. Yea, I loved that car. Aaaaaa.

Ours was a 420SEL. Great car. Sadly I hit a big dog with it while driving through East St. Louis. A pack of dogs bolted across the interstate in front of us only to encounter a concrete divide. When they reversed course, three cars couldn't avoid hitting them. Sad event. Only glimmer of a silver lining was that the big M-B was not damaged and more importantly, the family remained safe.

Utility vehicles with unquestionable value. Ours is a Toyota Highlander.

Ah yes, the Lashdeep effect. :-)

Everyone should have an LBC (Little British Car). In order of size, small-to-large, mine are:
'53 MG TD
'62 Triumph TR3b
'73 Jaguar E-Type
'78 Lotus Esprit
'69 R-R Silver Shadow

You humble me totally, Matt.

Will do. Delivery is scheduled for Saturday but schedules are typically fluid, so who knows? You will know when I do.
