Why all these insane rules? Easy answer. Its because the circus organizers want both championships decided on the last lap of the last race of the season. That keeps the audience plugged in to the advertising. And how do they do that? Rules that discriminate against teams with more money. Why else would they award double points for the last race? Its to promote an upset in the scoring so the fans will watch till the end! Ooooo, what if both M-B cars DNF in Abu Dhabi?! Better watch. Of course, this is all done under the facade of 'safety' or 'cost cutting' or 'greenwashing' or any similar fan brainwashing. I bet F1 Management was really pissed when M-B locked up the Constructor's Championship! Recall how quick they were to state that M-B hasn't won yet; There could be points-subtracting penalties!!!
And this whole cost-cutting idea is stupid. Want a cheaper power plant? Remove all that ERS crap, remove the turbos, remove the rev limiters and fuel restrictions, and allow larger displacement engines. How about this: What if they just allowed race cars and drivers? Enclosed cockpits, my ass. What's next, fenders and bumpers? Or what about this; 'Drivers' sitting SAFELY in ergonomic chairs with SAFE carpal tunnel wrist protection, SAFELY operating remotely controlled cars with X-Box controllers? No wait. My bad. Charlie Whiting already does that...
