Britt notes “I have no idea what the sound issue with the exhaust could be”

Not so much sound issue as burn through of the tubes at the marvelous tubing bends and blanketed manifold.  Just saw one set.  I was kicking F550 tires at one time and asking for problems.  Shop showed me the manifolds.  Burn through at several bends.  Good to know it’s not endemic – maybe a one off situation.

Early 550 motor mounts sagged and engine rests on frame.  The fix – by that time – replace with F575.  No more sag.

Windows – Drivers and passenger door window will drop away from rubber about a 10 mm when the door handle is opened.  When shut – gap closes.  Problem windows would drop down but not return to close the gap.

These $200.000 cars are marvelous which can be had now for a third of their original price.  AND, at my age, MUCH more attractive to drive than rowing thru 5 speeds in an underpowered, 3,000 pound little ol 308 GTS.  While the F550’s are now between 15 and 20 years old perhaps these minor peccadillos were solved under warranty.

I was really seriously searching for an F550 and Clyde was helping me with Clyde Negotiation 101 classes.  Found one – belonged to the VP of Exoto, the fantastic model builders and ran into a tiny little old physical problems – car too long to negotiate steep initial drive way transition from side walk.
