Speaking of auto Skunk Works - At one time I used to pal about with Freeman Thomas – designer of the Audi TT and co-designer with J May and Steve Anderson of the ‘new’ beetle. As you can see – some time ago. Freeman’s wife, Rene told the story when they were living in Italy working on the Audi TT at Italdesign Giugiaro in Moncalieri, Italy they had a holiday dinner of sorts. Worst group of people ever she said. Since Italdesign hosts many auto company’s Freeman’s acquaintances weren’t interested in sports AND they couldn’t talk about work!! Bummer dude. DOUG There are plenty of skunk work project cars out there. Add VW to that list. I personally know of a Jetta AWD that was built and the solution was 2 motors... Plenty of other cars I can't talk about, too. Erik |
