Agree about Button, but he is a clear-headed and consistent race finisher. Keeping him tells me that M-H has put thought into wanting a Constructor’s championship. He is also in a much better position than Magnussen to contribute to the car’s setup and refinement throughout the season.

And while I’m sure that both Alonso and Button would like to have another World Championship crown, neither has anything to prove in that regard, which may make their choice more sensible than keeping Magnussen in a driver’s seat. He is young and hungry (and talented), but also has his own glory to earn. Once they have a season or two with Button and the car/team is sorted, then you can transition him out and get aggressive in the #2 slot.

I've said it before and I'm not doing this to rile Fellipe...

Their nationalistic approach is to be applauded if promoting Italia is the biggest concern.  They have done that well.

But not so recent history showed this didn't work for their F1 program.

Then then they brought in the little Frenchman, who brought in the Brit engineer and the German driver...

And all was well in the land of Red.  The Tifosi cheered, again and again.

In recent history its been top heavy with Italians again.  And the cheering has gone quiet in the land of Red.
(don't believe me... click on the "+" signs at http://formula1.ferrari.com/people and look at the names)
I'm not saying there are not Italians who are the top of their fields...  Look what Aldo Costa has done for Mercedes.
I'm saying that all the best are not going to be Italian and if you want the best of the best, you have to be willing to look outside of Italian culture.  Unless they are looking to build a "nationalistic" team.  In which case they've done a very good job.  But "good" doesn't win races.
Now they have another German driver (IMHO not as good as the one before)... so maybe its the start of something "great" again.

I think Honda waiting out an extra year has been a wise idea for their new engine program.  Once they weed out the gremlins they will have a motor equal the mighty Merc...   But still, I'll like to see them go to a displacement based system and drop the phony "we're green" hybrid bull$hit.  And I'm sure Alnoso will out-drive Button on a consistent basis.

Hey Friends,

Any thoughts about McLaren's competitiveness in light of Honda power and two world champion drivers? My initial thoughts are that the boys in red had better step up their game!

Thoughts?
