I think you’ll be OK. The article did say that they would leave manufacturing in Italy, even if Engineering went to Britain and Corporate Registration goes somewhere like the Netherlands.

 

I just think it’s sad that left wing politicians everywhere want to fix corporate inversion by figuring out ways to punish it, rather than addressing the problem that caused the companies to consider it in the first place. It’s one thing to try to just preserve what you already have, but if you fix the problem, rather than the symptoms, then you encourage new corporations to show up, which is the proper way to grow your tax base. Liberal “milk what we can see” tax management has not been long-term successful anywhere it was tried.

All of what you say is true but.....

 

If Ferrari ever left Italy (even Maranello/Modena itself), it would be so weird.....just wouldn't be the same, IMO. 

 

It would be a tragedy if I never got to go to the factory in Maranello....if this could potentially happen over the next 2 years, most likely that's what will happen.

If said agencies can’t come to an agreement or call their bluff, I don’t have much of a problem seeing Ferrari move out of Italy. Sooner or later governments need to realize that taxing their generating base out of existence is not a solution to anything. For 2012 (last year I see statistics), “home” sales were only 3.4% of Ferrari’s production. Clearly national pride isn’t translating to ownership. As long as the designers remain Italian I don’t think it will change the company character much, and frankly the designs haven’t been much Italian since the 360. With the exception of the 550/575 and 458, I think most of the newer cars could easily be Asian without anyone blinking an eye.

But not so recent history showed this didn't work for their F1 program.

In recent history its been top heavy with Italians again.  And the cheering has gone quiet in the land of Red.

I'm not saying there are not Italians who are the top of their fields...  Look what Aldo Costa has done for Mercedes.
I'm saying that all the best are not going to be Italian and if you want the best of the best, you have to be willing to look outside of Italian culture.  Unless they are looking to build a "nationalistic" team.  In which case they've done a very good job.  But "good" doesn't win races.
Now they have another German driver (IMHO not as good as the one before)... so maybe its the start of something "great" again.

 

I think Honda waiting out an extra year has been a wise idea for their new engine program.  Once they weed out the gremlins they will have a motor equal the mighty Merc...   But still, I'll like to see them go to a displacement based system and drop the phony "we're green" hybrid bull$hit.  And I'm sure Alnoso will out-drive Button on a consistent basis.

Any thoughts about McLaren's competitiveness in light of Honda power and two world champion drivers? My initial thoughts are that the boys in red had better step up their game!
