So true Grahame,

Spent a great afternoon with Phil Tegtmeier yesterday. We spent hours going over my cars. We peeked under covers of British ikons, looked over a rare and quirky offering from Sweden, and photographed the ID plates of gray market Ferraris. It was a blast. Usually when someone views my cars, I have to spend the whole time explaining what they're seeing. Not the case when enjoying time with the master. We just enjoyed all the details.

Yes, F1 is a goofy business. And as a friend says of my sister-in-law, "Its impossible to gain a rational understanding of something that is irrational." :-P

But isn't much of the circus entertainment industry that way? I mean, what's the point of a dog in a clown suit riding on an elephant? And speaking of Vettel, I am interested to hear his comments about the Ferrari in the Melbourne race! Well, almost as interested as I am in seeing how Fred does in the McLaren!

Happy Sunday, uh, Monday to you,

-rick

Love the absurdities of the F1 regulations... Let's encourage a new engine manufacturer to join the frey. Now they are in, let's hobble them so they can't be a threat to the establishment... But yes, of course it's all about competition...  Not. And the more it changes, the more it seems the same... Ho hum.

Hi Friends,

I have read that the constructors intend for the F1 engines to produce 1000hp for the 2017 F1 season. Is that hopeful thinking from the engine suppliers, or part of a revised formula? And they use the term 'engine' not power source or energy system, but perhaps that's just generic semantics. Anyone heard any more about this?

Secondly, has anyone heard any news about Honda's appeal to allow all constructors to implement engine refinements during the season? I know its a loophole in the regulations that allow the other constructors to modify, but shouldn't the formula be changed in response to this loophole, allowing all suppliers to modify? Perhaps the ongoing drama is just to hype the media?!

And finally, anyone heard any more rumors, or rumors of rumors, about the 2015 season?
