The issue as far as I can tell with the Mondial 8 is that it was the bottom rung car for so long that they all went to people unwilling to pay to maintain them.  Anyone that had a bit more resources got a 2 seater and was willing to pay.  If you're making payments on a Ferrari, you really can't afford one.

 

It's a much better handling GT car than the 308 is, the longer wheelbase really helps the twitchy-ness.  Park one next to a 430 and by god, its the same exterior dimensions.  Ferrari really did get that car more right than people think.

 

They're all shit boxes compared to a proper front engine V12 car, but that is a story for another day.

No issues. Had an upgraded fuse box put in before I got it. Runs on Superformance 16" replica wheels, no issues with modern rubber. Only real failures were an ignition switch that went bad and a slave cylinder that went out. Not bad for a car that is 32 years old, no?

Their reputation is from people that want to dog Ferraris. Anyone that thinks they're slow have never driven a 166...
