Wow Doug!  You've given this a lot of thought!  Yeah, I think you're right about it being time to do taxes -  where you'll find hundreds of thousands of pages and NO BODY understands what they say!!

THE reason that old time Jaguar’s (read most British cars) bore is tiny and the stroke is long.  But not so for all Euro countries.  The Brits use only the diameter of the piston bore in their math.  Other countries use the displacement times number of cylinders or other methods.

 

France for instance named their car after the horsepower – ie: the Citroen 2CV.  Ayep – that’s right Gov – only 2 horse power (De Chevaux – [I think]).  The cars name says it all – here’s your 5 Francs.

And then there’s DIN and SAE HP.

 

And no matter – engines just work on “stuff in and stuff out.”  An air pump.  And the great equalizer, is ambient air pressure which is something like 14 pounds  plus per squre inch - - - AT SEA LEVEL.  That is unless supercharged.

 

Oh, my head hurts – im going to relax and do my taxes.
