Ach! Peter – you’ve hit it on the head.

Suffice it to say, we have had the privilege of living in some of the greatest racing eras:

-        CanAm - Late 1960’s CanAm was the pinnacle of big bore sports car racing

-        Lemans – Again late 60’s to early 70’s with Ford v Ferrari excitement and politics.

-        F1 - 1980’s pinnacle of F1 with human talent plus mechanical innovation made good racing

-        Indy Champ cars - Late 1950’s to early 1970’s Indy where 50 teams came together with 50 solutions to the same problem but only 33 could compete

-        1960’s drag racing until the last 10 or 15 years where, like Indy Champ car racing, brought innovation and increasing records to the spectators.

Most of the above also exhibited lousy driver/spectator safety.  So it’s been a trade off in the name of safety and increased competiveness.

Oh well – that’s why I record most races and use 2x speed to review.

Maybe it’s cause I’m getting old and running out of time – or is it really because it’s just boring?

Onward
