Larry, Perhaps if my friend had waited he might have done better in the deal. The 512TR may have appreciated and the 599GTB would have depreciated. I don’t know what he paid for the 599GTb. I think it is a 2010…not sure. I’ve got an 85’TR with less that 40K on it that has been well maintained since I bought in 2002….and …….quite frankly…. I have no idea what it is worth. I have heard that the more desirable 512TRs are lately appreciating and that apparently the early TRs have bottomed out…..whatever that means. As far negotiation goes……..well…..since negotiation is the art of the possible, I suppose anything is indeed possible. I think the buying and selling of these Ferraris is a lot like horse trading (no metaphor intended). I also have a 575M which is pleasurable to drive when compared to the 85’TR……but the TR still has its own charm. I’ve driven two different 599GTBs, back in 2013. One was a friend’s 2010 and the other was the 2012 Il Passione. They were wonderful experiences, although I not sure I would be willing to eat the depreciation for 3 years simply for the pleasure…particularly given Minnesota’s short driving season for exotics.
