There are three 512TRs on eBay right
now.
Find a comp closest to your mileage
and condition and keep on eye on the prices.

can probably post some pictures -- despite being pretty technologically
challenged -- but don't know how helpful they would be, inasmuch as all I have
at my disposal now for pictures is my iPhone. (I intend to ask a good
friend, who doubtlessly capable of taking respectable pictures, to snap some
at a later date; unfortunately he's not located all that near me.) But
if at this stage pictures really matter, let me know and I will try.

From what little I've seen informally about current prices, it's
conceivable that if he had waited 3 years -- and negotiated hard -- he might
have been able to swap them even up. Of course you don't say what he
paid for the 599GTB then -- and waiting would have deprived him of the
pleasure (but also further deprecation) of driving the 599GTB the last 3
years.
