I have no idea what you pay for insurance with Hagerty or any of the other guys like CHUBB

I use USAA

I have had my 93  512 TR since 96 almost 20 years

Pay around $1500 yr  $1000 deductible

My 512 TR has over 100 k miles on it

I know if I get hit hard it's a total

But I am fine with that because I got to use the car not wash and wax it !

They way I look at with those guys CHUBB and the like

They give you and agreed value not tied to inflation knowing that you are not going to drive the car a lot

It's money in the bag for them

Like being  insured by the mafia !

By what you like and can afford to drive

Drive the paint off it

If you total it at least you can say you drove it !

Ask your self this, why would you own something , insure it,  and not use it and sell it for a loss?

I don't get it.

Say what you want about the Haggerty values, but a DEALER offered me right at those numbers for my 308GT4.  I was shocked.

Thank you!

1)  Quite honestly I have no idea what I should ask for it.  (Though I will settle for less than they're asking for this car, so maybe mine will appear to be a relative bargain, at least to anyone even less informed than I about current pricing: http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inventorylisting/viewDetailsFilterViewInventoryListing.action?sourceContext=&newSearchFromOverviewPage=true&inventorySearchWidgetType=AUTO&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity=d1825&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity2=&zip=19119&distance=NATIONWIDE&searchChanged=true&modelChanged=true&filtersModified=true#listing=111037555  )
That's why one of my requests was for some help in pricing.

2) I can probably post some pictures -- despite being pretty technologically challenged -- but don't know how helpful they would be, inasmuch as all I have at my disposal now for pictures is my iPhone.  (I intend to ask a good friend, who doubtlessly capable of taking respectable pictures, to snap some at a later date; unfortunately he's not located all that near me.)  But if at this stage pictures really matter, let me know and I will try.

From what little I've seen informally about current prices, it's conceivable that if he had waited 3 years -- and negotiated hard -- he might have been able to swap them even up.  Of course you don't say what he paid for the 599GTB then -- and waiting would have deprived him of the pleasure (but also further deprecation) of driving the 599GTB the last 3 years.

Larry,

I have a friend who wanted to sell his 1992 512TR Rosso/Tan with 25K about 3 years ago. I offered $75K cash and he laughed at me. 3 months later, he traded the car at Continental in Lake Forest for a plain Jane black 599GTB. He got $50K for the trade-in. Every time I see him,  I never let him forget it.

Regards,

Dick Petrick
