The Grand Prix Festival in the town of Watkins Glen is being held on September 11.  See http://www.grandprixfestival.com/  A major part of the event is two lap cruises of the old course for different car groups.  Almost all of these groups are completely filled.  They run between 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm.  At 4:00 pm the Vintage cars are lined up and run two parade laps.

Since Watkins Glen International (the race track) is closed this year after August 9th for track repaving, the Vintage Weekend has been moved to July.  Normally about a hundred Vintage cars come down from the track around 4:00 pm to recreate (at 6:00 pm) the start of the original race in the town of Watkins Glen in 1948.  They then run two parade laps of the original course.

Since we won't have any of the vintage cars this year, the organizers have put together a different package for the afternoon.  Part of it is a muscle car display and another part is a Ferrari display.  The Ferrari display is intended to be by invitation.

As for me, I am the sweep or chase car for each of the two-lap tours.   The sweep car is at the end of each group and carries me and a passenger and an event radio.  Our job is to keep the race organizers aware of where the back of the pack is and also to call for assistance if any car breaks down on its two laps. They needed a car that was easily identifiable so my Eurotrash 308 has served for a number of years.

BTW this is one of (if not the biggest) vintage events in the US.   Just a great event.  In youtube search for " grand prix festival watkins glen" to see many videos of the events.

So, has anyone here received an invitation?  If you'd like an invitation contact me and I can put you in contact with the person handling them.
