Chris I agree with you totally I reviewed the factory coolant diagram in the book It looks as if the right thermostat is the culprit I am buying factory replacement units always have Even though some say a GM unit will work Will keep you posted Looks like about a 8 hour job Going to replace the plenum hoses under the intake manifold while I am there as well

If the TR thermostats do not open fully, the coolant is recirculated in the engine instead of being sent to the radiator. The disc at the bottom of the thermostat closes off the re circulation passages in the thermostat housing on the firewall. Replace both with factory thermostats. They are not inexpensive but TR cylinder heads lose their temper if overheated too many times, then the heads will not maintain proper torque because the aluminum is too soft and deforms, then the motor will not stay water tightThank you Chris HillOn Jun 21, 2015, at 7:12 PM, ferrari-request [at] ferrarilist.com wrote:

Guys I think I found the problem
It?s a stuck thermostat on the engine right side looking from the back
Ran a coolant flush and got the fans to come on as advertised at 185
With a IR thermal gun checked the upper pipe which is the one where the thermostats push water into the radiator out of the engine
The left one with fans on goes to 185
The right one stays at 195 ? 197 or so
Highest temp reading in the cockpit one line over the 195 mark and it stay there ! fans on
The radiators are relatively small for a 5 liter engine and with one thermostat not opening all the way it cannot overcome the higher temp on the right side
If it were a clogged radiator I believe that the temps would go way higher than 195 at idle
