Title: Ferraris-online.com Newsletter - 1972 Ferrari 246 GT s/n 03000 - Price reduction

LS notes on the 246 Dino – ““. . . shows well and is thoroughly sorted with . . .” Uh oh...why are asking prices starting to go...DOWN??”

Vehicle nicely restored to show quality (from 50 feet) and thoroughly sorted (after months in ICU following a short stint with Hurricane Katrina).

Just a joke, just a joke - - - but I have personally found that buying a used car is buying another person’s problem - - the problem could be they have just too many 250 GTO’s and the Dino sits outside; the owner died and the estate heirs are only “Built Ford Tough” mountain folk; or they are just plain tired of it and are movin’ on.

Nevertheless – like a beautiful women in a bar, someone thru her back and there are dents and dings you may NEVER ever get the whole story.

As in our 1971 911T Porsche – bought in 1986 and discovered in 1987 why is there factory yellow paint UNDER the right front fender and why was THAT side of the car repainted with NO of any records mentioned in the “complete records”?  [note, it must have happened in the mid-70’s as the respray was a lacquer that over the years died down to the metal.  Factory paint on the other side would take a shine, the resprayed side – it would last for one day.  WD40 was a better polish].

Or even our 1978 308 GTS when doing a PPI on the lift I noticed the jack points were scrapped flat as if the car went backwards over a curb and the RR corner fiberglass parts were bondo’ed and pop riveted (replaced the whole piece and I have the busted part hanging in our garage).  Records?  Ayep – tons about carb overhauls and misc. stuff but NOTHING about a real fine respray (color was a real Ferrari red by itself but when besides other Rossa Corsa 308?  It looked like Rossa Campbell Tomato Soup.

Used cars = equal secrets.

How many arms have held you
And hated to let you go?
How many, how many, I wonder
But I really don't want to know [DA – unless yer a car]
