I agree with the huge tires on older cars.

It depends mostly on the way the wheels come off. I can't get behind a 288 GTO/F40 style wheel on a 308, but it's ok to me on a 512 Boxer. A BB's rear tirewells could accommodate bigger tires to a point and still come off ok to me.

No hard and fast formula....you just know it when you see it.
