Boy –FG – neve a simple question. Dunno the answer to them. BUT:1) Smokey Yunek designed a flat crank chevy engine. A lot of work for 5 hp and even exhaust pressure.2) Porsche’s 12 cylinder 917 used a Type 912 180 degree flat crank. Note – this was not a boxer engine as the crank webs shared con rods nor was this the engine in a 912 street car. The “type 912” engine was a rouse to foil any spies that Porsche was working on a 12 cylinder engine.Let us know what you come up with.DOUGFrom: Ferrari [mailto:ferrari-bounces+dnt=dock.net [at] ferrarilist.com] On Behalf Of Fellippe Galletta

Subject: [Ferrari] Flat Plane vs. Cross PlaneA lot of talk lately about the flat plane in the Mustang GT350 being similar to the Ferrari V8s....Question to the list:Are the Ferrari 12 cylinders flat plane as well or cross plane?I took a look on wiki and it seems that flat 12 came up under 2 cycle cross plane....hmmm.I'm assuming Lamborghini is identical to Ferrari in this regard for their 10 and 12 cylinder cars....Thanks,FG_________________________________________________________________
