I'm surprised they had 2 versions. It's not like it was a sex scene. On mine, you don't see the top at all after he slides it. It just disappears. And then he floors it.

Michael’s good observation notes “I thought it was a big mistake. It's just plain impossible. The top would have ended on the engine cover.”

Ayep – the first uncut sequence shows that he pops the top off which slides down onto the engine cover and skids off the deck as he punches it.

No doubt that few seconds was trimmed when thousands of 308 concours Platino owners wrote in threatening law suits over their myocardial infarctions with convulsion de gran mal seizure’s.

Just a guess – either that or they wanted more adverti$ing time.  heh heh

Has any of you ever seen the scene where Selleck actually takes the top off once and for all ? I saw a load of reruns here in Montréal last fall. It must have been the very first show. Here is how he did it: He sort of drove away with the car (with the top on)  from the house where he lived with the owner (forgot his name in the show) screaming at Selleck to come back.

He gets on the street, stops, the camera is on the passenger side, Selleck looks at the camera, smiles and SLIDES, YES SLIDES the top backward with his 2 hands and the top disappeared. Never to be seen again. He drove away spinning his wheels on the grass. It's also part of the opening sequence of each show.

I replayed that seen many many times to try  to understand where the top went. He's sitting behind the wheel and slides the top. I thought it was a big mistake. It's just plain impossible. The top would have ended on the engine cover.

From Snowy Montréal!
