Picture this – 1977 @ Harrah’s Auto Museum in Reno, NV. Mike Valentine – I think I met him there. Big fella and as you say – humorous. We asked him how to avoid speeding tickets. He chuckled – don’t be first, don’t be last, don’t be different. He went on: Two (then) radar detectors front and rear and a CB radio tuned in to the truckers. Then he quipped – speeding tickets are revenue enhancement – you’ll never avoid them in some areas. That was the first time I heard that phrase and so true. I asked him one time what he thinks of it, he replied, "it picks up groceries just like the 911, but does a much better job of picking up the women at the grocery store." LOL Great guy, hilarious stories, had monthly pizza dinners with him when I was in Cincinnati. Ha! The only person I’ve ever personally known who had a CGT was a radiologist. And he had sold his F40 to buy the CGT because the F40 would never run on two consecutive weeks for him… J From: Ferrari [mailto:ferrari-bounces+charles=carolina-sound.com [at] ferrarilist.com] On Behalf Of Fellippe Galletta Sent: Thursday, September 07, 2017 9:33 AM To: Charles Perry Cc: The FerrariList Subject: Re: [Ferrari] Miura vs. 250 GTO LOL..... Sent from my iPhone In today's world, it may be a waste of time to explain anything to a millennial... There are a few exceptions out there but most have had their minds rotted by those in the ivory tower. When I have these conversations I go to racing. Point out how many Ferraris have won how many races and that the only way Lambos win any race is when they have their own series. side note: Many years ago at Concorso Italiano (when it was still at Quail) Lambo had a huge presence as they were unveiling a new cabriolet something. I walked over and watched as they pulled the cover off and "Meh". The rather obnoxious Lambo guy spent 10 minutes extolling the virtues of this car then looked off to the sea of Ferraris and asked. Does anyone know what Ferrari means in Italian? ...silence. Then in a rather whiny voice he said "Oh, I wish I had bought a Lamborghini!". Then he asked in a very manly voice "Does anyone know what Lamborghini means in Italian" and before he could utter a word an older Gent standing next to Mario (who was raffling his Lambo that weekend) said very loudly and imitating the same whiny voice "Oh, I wish I could win a race!" The crowd erupted in laughter and the pitch guy turned red as the Ferraris he was trying to put down.
