One more tidbit, the development of a new powertrain is approximately a one billion dollar investment. The OEMs are really starting to look at which solution gets them to their mandated target levels from an emissions standpoint and a CAFE fuel economy fleet average (CO2 in Europe). This is why Daimler showed their hand when they said that 25% of their fleet will have some electric component under the hood by 2025 yesterday. Interesting times. Which also makes me wonder - how many SLOCs are running a Prius, or a Tesla???

The Volt is running off of more lines of code than the F35 does. This will continue to be the case. And we all know how well IT products from different vendors integrate. Then you throw in the OEMs that want to customize things for their own applications and people wonder why there is still limited demand. If a design lifecycle for a laptop is only 18 months, do you really expect people to pay $90k for a laptop with wheels attached? Going to be interesting to see how this plays out. gp From: Erik Nielsen <judge4re [at] gmail.com> I'm really looking forward to electomobility once the storage issues are resolved. Just hope they don't overdo it (which is inevitable). - Not sure I'm clear on what you mean by "overdo it"?? Appreciate your inputs, thanks. Clyde wrote (sorry, lost it in the editing here...): "Mercedes has the best engines." - Clyde - even today, in the era of mass-produced, dime-a-dozen, find-them-on-every-street-corner Mercedes??
Thanks.
