1978 GTS Rear Brake Caliper question (Lashdeep Singh)

Hmmmm

Just like air lines and their air frame parts?

Porsche 917 tail lights from a tractor -  OEM = unobtainium

Porsche 904 original tail lights over-the-counter at dealer sold for six quintillion dollars (US) OR . . . .from a small Euro sports car (I forget which one) which sold for $few bucks.

Most emission stuff for Ferrari is or was from GM.  As Clyde says – why reinvent the wheel especially since a large chunk of the market is US and DOT judges are humanistically lazy and don’t want to chew their cabbage twice (a saying my previous Polish boss used a lot).

Onward

In the car business now every manufacturer is mirroring each other and even licensing its products on their cars

Case in point

All the late model hard top convertibles use the Mercedes system

Yes even Ferrari uses it

Why reinvent the wheel ?

Pay a fee and move on

Suspensions, A/C etc are all copied big time

I would guess all the major car makers by every model from their competitors

Tear them apart

And see who does it best

The A/C system in a 328 going forward is right out of a Camero

Early 308 used the York compressor right out of a Ford Pinto

Just curious - who do you think builds the best engineered engines now?  And how do you define "best"?

Thanks,

Best engineered until 1995...

Their motors are a punchline now.
