Once a 250GTO replica showed up at the New Canaan Caffeine and Carburetors. It was extremely well done and authentic looking but you could feel the air go out of the balloon   as soon as the owner explained its origin. 

It's like the ubiquitous Shelby AC 427 Cobra replicas. You almost yawn and say, "Oh, another replica!"  Definitely reduces the excitement when you actually see a real one.

Great article in this magazine, The Official Ferrari Magazine, about the 10 highest prices ever paid for Ferraris at auctions. They say out of the 20 highest prices ever paid for cars at auctions, 15 are Ferraris.
