Iâ??m not a stickler for originality, so YMMV, and my 308gt4 is more track-oriented. The story is a bit of a spider that ate the fly thing.  After the original engine lunched itself (think: sodium-filled valves), I started the rebuild with a 3.2 Mondial motor, then did a few nice mods to that and we ended up making quite a bit more horsepower.  So to go with that, I decided to do a brake upgrade and went for Brembo 4-pot brake calipers from a 360 with 320mm diameter x 32mm, 2-piece, floating, ventilated, cross-cut discs with custom billet aluminium bells and mounts.  I then put in new springs, about 20% stiffer than stock, and also upped the shockies by about 20% in terms of impact and rebound.  I was running 16â?? x 7â?? front and 16â?? x 8â?? rear rims before the brake upgrade but those rims did not work with the big brakes.  So I went for 18â?? x 8â?? forged aluminium Challenge-style rims all-round, which opened up a world of modern rubber.  By going to the 8â?? wide rim at front, I was a little worried that it might feel â??over-tyredâ??, but thatâ??s not how it is, as it feels great and points well.  I am currently running 245/40R18 Pirelli Dragons which I find are very nice on this car and versatile, being a very good dry/wet and street/track compromise.

Cheers,

Grahame
