The complete linkage or just the bushing?

In an off-list message to Rob, I questioned why the bushing is missing in the first place. If anyone has tried to remove bushings like this, will probably agree with me, they are a surprisingly royal PIA to get out. When I did my suspension years ago, I fought with EVERY bushing. From the shock eyes, to the A-Arm bushings* to these links as well. Rob can also attest to the first gen steering rack mounts being nearly impossible to remove as well, where he sent them to me and I welded special drivers to the bushing shells just to get them out (just like how I had to do that with mine. They are installed in blind holes and can’t be simply pressed out from one side to the other)!

So with this, how come the bushing is missing in the first place? Forgot to be installed, or was the original bushing reused and the rubber finally broke down and fell out, leaving behind the shell and inner insert in place?

Peter

*= I replaced the A-Arm bushings as a whole with OE spec and not the short-cut way of burning out the rubber with a torch and replacing with poly inserts (So, cut off the tack welds on the outer shell, pressed out the old units and pressed in new ones and tack welded those on).

Friends,

I took a break to play in my band but now back to working on the Dinos!  I was hearing a clunking sound coming from my right front suspension so put the car up and found the passenger side front roll bar bushing looks like it failed.

It has been a while since I worked on this so can anyone suggest a way to get the tension off the bar?  Its up on ramps. I think I will change both sides when I get it off! Not sure what caused this but glad it did not come all the way off and I caught it!!!

Looks like this is the bolt that hold the lower shock mount. Can I repair this with the wheel mounted? Looks like there is no other damage?

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

Rob
