I was more amused by this quote from their article (and it was a Ferrari written article):

“The steering wheel rim is also smaller in diameter to enhance the level of tactility and make the car feel even more agile.”

Uh. OK…

I’m upset there’s no engine picture. How did we come to this there’s an article in a new road and track or auto week about a new Ferrari and there’s no photo of the engine???

It is weird that they departed from their decades old strategy of having two models per platform before doing something significantly different (308-328 / 348-355 / 360-430 / 458-488). Not that the 458/488 have been anything but great, but I think most people will think it’s derivative.

I love the rear. Great to see them back to two pair taillights (which is part of what I liked about the 812 Superfast over the F12), but in the rear ¾ view the profile looks awfully close to a Lamborghini Huracan. Also love that they’re back to star shaped wheels. I’ve always hated the little 5-stick designs that started on the 360.

Side looks straight 488 – just that they moved the fin in the air intake higher. Not bad, but not exciting. The new nose is OK. I guess they figured out how to meet the European pedestrian impact standards differently because that sharp leading edge on the nose would’ve been illegal a few years back for trying to dismember pedestrians.

I think I’m most disappointed that they didn’t do anything interesting with the interior. I’ve never liked the “pods / sprouts / protruberance” language they’ve had for years. Just looks like a kid did it with Lego parts. And I don’t get their weird attachment to providing displays for the passenger. That seems like an expensive bit of kitsch that only serves to piss off the wife while you’re driving.

I’m sure it will be spectacular to drive, but if it were $100k more than a Huracan Evo I’d hand my money to Lamborghini.

Maybe the 488 Pista will fall into a range I can eventually afford…
