Actually, his father Laurence Stroll had a go-kart team here in Mont-Tremblant to start his son. Then he bought PRIMA RACING (or something like that) to get his son in F2 in Europe. Then, he bought a seat with Williams in F1 2 years ago. Now, with other investors, he bought Formula 1 team Force India last fall, which became RACING POINT and gave his son a seat. His rise through different levels of racing is very common in motor racing. Money will actually buy you a place with the best for a long time, but eventually it all ends very suddenly. The father wakes up one day and sees the investment isn’t worth it.
In the case of Lance Stroll, I give him the benefit of the doubt….. so far. Even my favorite driver of all time, Niki Lauda, had to buy his way in, in the early 70s.
