Yes, but, in the past when they’d sprinkle salt on the road, in that hard, crystal form, it would take time and traffic to break it down. Plus, in that hard form, it’d even help with traction.

 

This liquid brine gets sprayed EVERYWHERE on the car when the tires whip it up. My short drive to work during the winter time (<5 min) and the lower half of my red Fiat becomes white.
