I didn’t want to share that story at first because I was afraid the waiter at the Ristorante Cavallino in Maranello would get in trouble. I changed my mind. I have been there at least 6 times since 1993
Long story short, I was there sometimes in 2019, again I don’t want the waiter to get in trouble, I was able to negotiate 2 grey tablecloths with the embroidered rampante cavillino for 50 euros. They don’t have the napkins and the utensils with the rampante cavallino on them anymore. But I do have a knife from 1995 with the cavillino on it. I told the waiter I had been at that restaurant many times and that I recognized him, etc, etc. Then at the end I stood up and walked around the restaurant to take pictures all around the place. They don’t change the set up too much but it’s still important for me to take pictures. Same frames, same helmets on the walls. Only 2 other people were there.
Then, the waiter motioned to me to follow him and he put the key in a door lock that had PRIVATO plaque on it. He opened it and BAM, I was in Enzo Ferrari's private dining room. My heart started to go very fast and I was smiling like crazy. I went in and he walked away. I spent a few minutes in the room, took A LOT of pictures. It was awesome!
One tablecloth is permanently on my dining table.
