I redid mine using metalized insulation sold for engine compartments. That was before Amazon, so I can’t remember where I got it. I recall buying a roll of
it from somewhere like AutoZone. Took the shell off the rear hood, cut it to fit. Once it was remounted it still needed a little trimming just so the plastic edges weren’t visible around the shell. I think it had sticky backing, but something about the shell
shape also holds it in place. So far it’s more than ten years old and still looks/works great. No significant heat to the painted surface above that I can feel. From: Ferrari [mailto:ferrari-bounces+charles=carolinasound.com [at] ferrarilist.com]
On Behalf Of Larry Bard The material, which had partially decomposed, finally fell off. Is it's primary function sound insulation -- so that I needn't be concerned about replacement -- or will the lid
paint discolor (or worse) from the heat, so that I should promptly replace it (in which case, any sources/material recommendations?)? Thanks, Larry |
