Yeah, its a mess.

My company’s condo-tel complex in Orlando has already had a wave of cancellations.  Not too worried about March - this is the busy season and people are still coming.

We are doing what we can to prepare, but for a tourist Mecca like Orlando (where we own the condo-tel and a outlet mall) - its coming and its coming hard.  I think it is only a matter of time until they close the parks and then the shit will REALLY hit the fan.  Already daily reports of cancelled convention business.

Personally, I’ve turned the corner from avoidance / prevention - to acceptance of the coming plague.  I have come to the conclusion that contagion is inevitable - at least for myself (In case you don’t know or don’t remember, I am quite immune-compromised - from a condition called EGPA - which requires a pretty steady diet of steroids to keep my eosinophils in check).  As such, personally, I have moved on from trying to avoid exposure to preparing for the consequences when I get the virus.

Plenty of paper goods, lysol, and various wipes in the house.  Protection for the wife - mask, goggles, and a tyvek suit - so that she can care for me without being exposed.  Worst case scenario - my Halloween Costume is done for 2020.  But, we have done this before.  I tend to get every flu, cold, etc because of my ‘issues.’  Shelly is quick to lock me down in the guest room and we have the food / dirty dishes trade down pretty well.  Of course, when she gets sick, I am the one that has to suit up like a chemist playing with ebola)

Of course, I have to run to Orlando and Daytona - again - this week.  So headed into the eye of the storm!  Hopefully, I can avoid exposure for a few weeks yet.

My advice, at this point, (and I am no doctor) is be prepared to be hunkered down, accept that this is coming, and have the supplies you need to be comfortable during any quarantine period.

Best of luck to all of you my friends.  I know and am glad that most of you are healthy, so there should be limited concern.  But for and from the weak among us, stay healthy, m be smart, wash hands, and avoid sick people.

Like I said, I am already in pandemic mode.  I may be overreacting or premature, but - like my Hurricane Season GO-BAG and the Jump Kit that I keep in the trunk of the car - it is better to be prepared an never use it, than to need something and not have it.

Best wishes,

Scottie
