You’re a bit off. Starting in june through end of august, we get our fair share of heatwaves, high humidity (not good for my 308) and the usual rain.

The problem with holding the race in late september or october was the racetrack being close to the St-Lawrence river, the cold winds would just freeze you in a second. Even on a sunny day.

Report du Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada 2020
 

Nous aurions été honorés de présenter la toute première manche du Championnat du monde de Formule 1 2020, mais nous avons le regret d’annoncer à notre tour le report du Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada 2020 prévu pour les 12, 13 et 14 juin prochain.

Au cours du dernier mois, nous avons été en communication constante avec des membres de la Formule 1 ainsi que des représentants de la ville de Montréal, de Tourisme Montréal et des paliers des gouvernements provincial et fédéral et nous avons entendu les directives émises par les officiels de la santé publique. En conséquence directe avec la pandémie de COVID-19, nous nous conformons aux recommandations des experts en autorité.

Nos pensées et sincères remerciements vont vers ceux et celles qui travaillent sans relâche afin de nous garder en santé, nous protéger et nous nourrir durant cette période difficile.

« Je suis fier de voir toutes les initiatives et les avancements technologiques qui émanent de la Formule 1 durant cette période de crise. En ce moment, il est primordial de concentrer tous nos efforts pour contrer la COVID-19. Nous serons prêts à vous accueillir à bras ouverts au circuit Gilles-Villeneuve dès que la situation le permettra. » – François Dumontier, Président et Chef de la Direction Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada.

Postponement of the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix 2020

We would have been honoured to host the first race on the 2020 Formula 1 World Championship calendar, but we are saddened to have to announce the postponement of the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix 2020 scheduled for June 12-13-14 2020. 

This postponement was not a decision that was taken lightly or easily. Over the past month, we have been in constant communication with Formula 1 and representatives from the city of Montréal, Tourism Montreal and both provincial and federal governments. We have heard the directives issued by public health officials and as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic are following the expert guidance provided by the authorities. 

Our thoughts and most sincere thanks go to the men and women working tirelessly to keep us healthy, safe and fed during these uncertain times.

At the moment it is crucial that all of our energies be put together to overcome COVID-19.
