No, I haven’t. Although, I’m sure there isn’t a huge spread between the two. The TR ushered in a new era of “world car” design and engineering, so from the start, they could be easily certified for the U.S. market meeting crash and emissions regs. Euro market cars just did away with cats (except Switzerland), side marker lights and reinforced bumpers. But that was the early ‘80s. If I remember correctly, manufacturers could use mouse trap seat belts as an alternative choice to installing air bags (and also the knee pads along the lower edge of the dash) when that came into effect towards the end of the ‘80s. More than likely not on the books back when they started the TR project. Of note, Canadian-spec TRs were never required to have that stuff. They just had the normal dashboard and three-point seatbelts (still had DOT lighting and higher – 5 MPH – bumpers [identified by little boxes added to the top corners of the front grille to hide the stronger bumper shocks]), plus cats.
