I was quite shocked when I read the story this morning and remember that Hagerty article published in their magazine last summer. Brings back quite a few memories of reading R&T’s various stories on the car back in the early ‘90s (plus all the other wacky and zany “hypercars” of that era). The first time I saw a Vector in real life was both the “regular” version and the evolution model, the “WX-8” at a car show at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas, back in 1992. Lots of cool machinery on display at that event too. I’ve got film pictures of it all somewhere... The Vectors were roped off so no one could get anywhere near them, so I couldn’t judge the build quality as you pointed out Hans. I find that odd as the car was touted as being built like a fighter aircraft, utilizing actual components from defence sources (and justifiably ramped-up costs). They definitely looked the part, although was already showing it’s age – the design first began as a concept back in 1978. I never considered the SBC to be a bad point of the car, but I did have a problem with it using a automatic. That, to me, lost credibility as a supercar.
