Hi Clyde,

I’m with you on using the F1 box in manual mode.  I run in manual mode nearly all the time when I am in the 599.  Manual is the way to go.  In steady moving traffic auto is ok but once it gets a bit stop-start, the auto is clunky and it hunts around trying to work out what gear it should be in, especially in the 1st/2nd territory.  And in more “spirited” driving, I know what gear I want to be in and when, whereas the auto system often doesn’t – so it needs me! 😊  Magic moment – coming hard onto the main straight at Philip Island, winding out the big V12 to over 8,000 revs (what music!!!!), grabbing each gear and feeling that thud and push as it continues to accelerate down the straight and then over the blind crest when Doohan Corner comes into view you have to titrate sensible trust in technology with a bit of bravery to work out how soon to hit the anchors…

Cheers,

Grahame

Gary I don’t get that

When you look at slush box cars anywhere

The first thing that stands out is

Clutch replaced at...

What’s that tell you?

The guy didn’t know how to drive a car with a clutch

That’s it

I’ve owned Ferraris for years and never replaced a clutch

When I worked at a local independent shop a guy came in bought a 360 stick

I had to drive it because he didn’t know how too!

So why the premium for a car that you don’t know how to drive?

I own a 575 F-1 and I am never looking back

I always drive it the manual mode with the paddles and I never miss a shift!

Up or down and it’s easier on the drive train

And it’s faster

, you can’t shift that fast manually and you have all the rpm protections up and down!

I hate to say it but the average Ferrari driver doesn’t know how to shift a slush box!

I don’t know who said it

But there are Ferrari drivers and Ferrari owners!

And truer words were never spoken

And the 6 speed manual in the 550 sucks big time along with the Arnold Schwarzenegger clutch pedal!

But hey let them pay premium
These are they same guys who like radial engines on airplanes!

550s have been bringing very strong $$, compared the 575s, because a lot of people want manual

transmissions.

What's really cRaZy are the F430 manuals.  They are about a $100K premium over an F1 trans car.
