Few people could ever effectively work on them. They were the epitome of overly complex and over engineered, especially the bottom end and gear driven valvetrain. Very interesting piece, as the multi piece crankshaft and connecting rod assembly are like watch internals. I was fortunate enough to drive a 356 Carrera coupe back in the early 90's, and although not a 365 fan, I loved driving this car as the engine is fantastic.
