IIRC, Italian tax laws influenced 2+2 designs. 2 seaters were or still are taxed at a higher rate.

I sat in the back of a 911 Turbo on the Ferrari of Washington showroom floor once, and the Porsche was much worse. I had to cock my head sideways because of the roofline, and I'm only 5'7".

I have had a number of cars like that, including a Morgan Plus 4 Plus. The 2
rear seats together were just about perfect for my English Setter.
