I don’t. We always had ours serviced at the dealers, but our Mitsu dealer has since closed and the Dodge dealer has no people left who’ve even seen a Stealth anymore. My dad’s 3000 has around 152k miles on it. I think mom’s Stealth was more like 200k when we sold it to a family friend, but neither of them ever had transmission issues. They did have remarkably different clutch feels for being identical
cars but that’s the only thing I ever noticed. The Getrags have a reputation for being exceptionally strong. A Michelin rep once told my dad that they used 3000GTs for tire testing because the car would literally tear the tires out of their beads before anything
mechanical failed. No idea how true that might have been. I did meet a couple of guys locally a year or so ago who were into buying up these cars and then modifying them to be raced. I don’t think I have their phone numbers anymore, but if I do, I’ll ask if they know anyone who is good with Getrags. -- charles From: Ferrari <ferrari-bounces+charles=carolinasound.com [at] ferrarilist.com>
On Behalf Of Dick Petrick Charles….I have a 92’ R/T Turbo which grinds gears when I vigorously downshift for 3rd to 2nd…….The only shift where this happens. I have to slow down and ease the downshift in 2nd….or it doesn’t go. I think it is probably a syncro…..been then, the Getrag is twitchy any way. My question is: Do you know of any shop that specializes in Getrags? Regards, Dick Petrick |
