Pretty much encapsulated the echo chamber that is the concours scene and why I rarely participate in it, life is way too damn short.

Don't get me started on the Gucci loafer 356 Porsche crowd...

Clyde,

I did, and my apologies for misunderstanding your post.

I do love Jags, but the one thing I can't stand about them is the (in the words of one of the BaT posters) "bloviating".  Jaguar concours shows are the worst - horrific nit-picking over this detail or that, like it matters at all.  Just like the cat fight over this car on BaT.  My car is missing (apparently....) a chrome strip across the leading edge of the soft top.  A guy with an XK-140 send me detailed instructions on how he made this himself - including making tiny half screws/half nails one by one to mount this strip.  Uh, no, that's not happening.  Not in my garage.  Apparently this would be a large enough point deduction that my car would not be allowed to be shown.  GREAT!  One less thing for me to worry about!  hahaha!!

I once took my car ('54 XK-120 OTS) to a show (not a Jaguar show) a couple of hours from home.  Drove it there.  Parked next to two "100 point" Jags (trailered in, don'tcha know?!?).  An XK-120 FHC - british racing green (yawn) and an XK-150 - resale red (cliche').  My car - light blue - got more comments and compliments because of the less common color but even more because I drove it to the show.  When the wife of the owner of those two cars asked me where I lived and how I got the car there (2+ hours, drove it), she smacked her husband on the shoulder and said "Why can't we do that?!?"  Her husband, a psychiatrist, replied "Because he has a normal car."  Hahahahaha!!!

Again Clyde, sorry I misunderstood, but thanks for sharing that.  Another reminder of why I like my local British car club over the Jaguar club - more fun, and  (as on "Whose Line Is It Anyway?") the points don't matter!

🙂

Clyde,

You don't have to like it or agree with it (and I know you won't - on either point), but the fact is, the Series 1 E-Type Roadster is one of, if not THE most desireable cars in the world.  So, Econ 101 - supply and demand.  (unless that's not at all what your subject liine was eluding to, in which case, my apologies....)

Good or bad, right or wrong, like it or not.....
