So Chevy couldn't fix the shitbox Malibu and it was flatbedded 200 miles to Kent's house.
Ran the codes and they didn't make any sense... why Chebby guys couldn't fix it.
Made some calls, put two of his guys on it. One had to ask what a Malibu was.
Diagnosis: 95% sure its the exhaust cam solenoid sticking.
He tore the plastic motor covers off, changed the solenoid... runs fine
Cleared the codes, ran it for half an hour, whiz kids were right.
Battery was weak, put a new battery in it.
Fixed a few other little things, serviced it, put it all back together and took it for a test drive.
Road stone cracked the windshield. $hit.
Called someone to come put a windshield in it for her.
Windshield guy noticed a tire problem.
double $hit
He put a new set of tires on it for her.
While he was in town he also bought and had the lock shop guy reprogram two new keys and key fobs for her (hers was broken).
Ordered Fob Covers to protect the Fobs, colors of her choice. (I didn't know there were such things as Key fob covers.)
Had a detail guy come out to the house and clean the car up inside and out.
Detail guy about shits his pants when he sees the other cars in the garage.
Detail guy almost has coronary when he finds out who he's dealing with.
Car goes back to young lady in Dallas.
The wife gives her a new pocketbook with a new AAA card in it and emergency ONLY funds.
Girl cries, knows she will now get to work on time, every time.
Gave her copies of all the receipts for warranty purposes.
Puts the originals in an envelope, throws it in a drawer, has no idea how much he spent... doesn't care.
Another young person who actually wants to work stays off the unemployment line because her car will get her to work now.
Another "Pay It Forward" moment complete for a Good Guy.
Girl calls, Girl is proud of her car now. Even helps by giving other employees rides when they need them now.
Good, that's all done and over.
The Formula One circus is in town.
His guys are flying in.
Back to work.

Remember, I read technical manuals like a good novel.I want to find out what happened to the waitress' car from Dallas. Can you imagine what the (car) guys in her life would think if they knew WHO was working on her car, gratis.
