Rick, I am sorry I never got to meet her. She sounds awesome!

She sounds awesome.  She must have been young when you lost her.  Sorry for that loss.  Sucks.  I hear you about baseball.  If you have played the game to at least the high school level and coached it, it is a different experience watching it.  Add a bag of hot roasted peanuts and you have a nice afternoon out.  Dusty always seemed like a great guy.  Some mutual friend you have!!!

Anthony,
Most of my life, I agreed with that statement.   My favorite description of baseball came from Bill Cosby...  5 minutes of action crammed into 3 hours of play.
I was always attracted to tomboys and in 89, I married one.
It might sound cliche to say, but she knew more about Baseball than any 10 guys you could find.  I'd bet the house on that.
Through a mutual friend and because he was from Sacramento, I arranged to have Dusty Baker stop by a birthday BBQ we had for her in 2000.  It was supposed to be just a "drop by" favor for 10min, tops.  He stayed 3 hours and they talked the whole time.  He was blown away by her knowledge and even said ( I believe sincerely) he was going to try something she brought up.
When you understand and watch Baseball from her perspective, from a manager's perspective, Baseball is extremely intense game of chess and everything happens way too fast to keep up with it.  The strategy changes with EVERY pitch.   Who's on the field, who is available, who does the other side have available, who is the hitter, what are his tendencies, what does this pitcher have for him, can I pull him, who does the other guy have to counteract that move, what do I have to counteract the counteract....  I could go on for 10 minutes.   She kept score like no other I've seen.  She could replay an entire game from her method of scoring.  When you observe from that perspective, it's quite intense... even bathroom breaks become luxury.
She died in 2005.  I haven't been able to watch a game since.
She was the same way with cars, racing, football, Hockey, Aussie Jet boat racing... maybe a little less intensely on those than baseball.
Just to keep this on the list... she loved Rob Garven's long hair.

.  It is like baseball.  Way better sport to play than to watch.
