In a way yes. For me, it’s knowing that a collection of delicate parts whirling away at thousands of times a minute because they’re subjected to precisely controlled explosions, which done in a certain sequence produces a hypnotic sound which I enjoy in a primal way. It’s hard to feel the same way about... Silence. Not that I don’t enjoy silence, I do and I need it a lot because my mind is in constant overdrive, but when it comes to cars, the sound of an engine is THE key part of it. Without it there is definitely something missing. Even today’s Formula 1 isn’t as exciting as everyone is using the same kind of engine – no variety. In the heyday of the series, you could have everything from a four cylinder to a V-12 on the same grid. In respect to racing, it doesn’t really matter if it’s fossil fuel or electric motors, it’s the strategy of working your way up the grid to number one (or trying to at least) that makes it the reason to watch. More often than not, it’s the mid pack action that is the most exciting and entertaining. Peter Sent from Mail for Windows From: Anthony Bauco What you guys are basically saying is that gas powered cars stimulate more of your senses. Those racecars hit visual, smell, hearing and feel. It is human to prefer that over just visual. It is probably still a blast to drive in the E cars but not so much to watch them. It is like baseball. Way better sport to play than to watch.
